Capasso Group at Harvard University demonstrates for the first time highly efficient polarization-insensitive metalenses with numerical apertures as high as 0.85 at visible wavelengths. These metalenses are able to focus incident light to a spot as small as ~0.64λ with efficiencies up to 90%. They are less than 600nm-thick and can provide high-resolution imaging. The work is published at Nano Letters.
