Prof. Xiaohui Wang’s group from Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences made significant achievement on supercapacitor and published their work on ACS Nano.

The authors illuminated deeply the fundamental processes responsible for the superior capacitance of Ti3C2Tx MXene in acidic electrolytes coupled with in situ Raman spectroscopy for the first time. The transformation from Ti3C2O2 to Ti3C2O(OH) is collected in H2SO4 electrolyte, giving rise to the pseudocapacitance while only electric double layer capacitance is recognized in the other electrolytes of (NH4)2SO4 or MgSO4, which provides guidelines to design MXene-based materials with higher capacitance in the near future.
